Silva`s return, seven years after his last professional fight, proved highly controversial. After being disqualified for repeated head-butts during the exhibition match, the situation escalated dramatically. During a chaotic post-fight altercation, Silva was reportedly knocked unconscious by Freitas’ son, Rafael Freitas.

Despite their infamous brawl during The Ultimate Fighter 11 years ago, which further fueled their fiery rivalry, and their subsequent fight in Bellator eight years later, the American MMA legend has now come to Silva`s unexpected defense.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sonnen issued a direct and ominous threat to Rafael Freitas, labeling him a “coward” and promising, “I’ll see you soon.”

Wanderlei Silva`s Changing Perspective on Chael Sonnen
Sonnen`s surprising show of support for Silva might not be entirely unexpected, given some recent comments from `The Axe Murderer` himself earlier this year.
During a media scrum at last year`s Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Silva revealed that he no longer holds any animosity toward Sonnen and has, in fact, come to “like” his former bitter foe.
