Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway have both indicated a strong desire to fight, but less than 24 hours after their initial callouts, the path to a highly anticipated BMF title rematch has already encountered its first disagreements.
The two former champions, Oliveira in lightweight and Holloway in featherweight, first clashed in 2015, a bout Holloway swiftly won by knockout. Since that time, Oliveira has fully established himself in the 155lb lightweight division. Despite this, Holloway remains confident in his ability to exploit what he perceives as Oliveiraโs now vulnerable chin.
Oliveira recently silenced his doubters at UFC Rio, delivering a dominant submission victory over Mateusz Gamrot. Immediately following his win, he explicitly called for a BMF title shot against Holloway, viewing it as a prime opportunity to avenge his earlier career loss.
Max Holloway`s Urgency: No Wait for “UFC White House”
A major point of contention has emerged regarding the fight`s timing. Max Holloway is eager to return to the octagon as soon as possible, ideally in March or February, having last competed in July at UFC 318 against Dustin Poirier.
Conversely, Charles Oliveira has expressed a preference for the fight to take place at “the White House,” even tweeting, “White House Aloha!”

During a recent Kick stream, Holloway directly addressed Oliveira`s proposal, stating to his fans, “I don`t know if I want to wait that long,” and reiterating his plan to “be back to training soon.”
Holloway countered by suggesting they meet early next year in Las Vegas. He underscored his position, remarking, “Maybe February? Fight in Las Vegas or something. We`re fighting on my terms, brother,” highlighting his status as the reigning BMF champion and the victor of their initial encounter.
