Despite his upcoming main event at UFC Rio tonight, Charles Oliveira is prepared to address a growing rivalry with a popular finisher.
The former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, is headlining a UFC event in his home country of Brazil for the first time in over five years.
He is scheduled to face Polish fighter Mateusz Gamrot, with their pre-fight staredown already creating tension. Oliveira also aims to overcome a notable statistic regarding his past performances against European opponents.
Beyond his immediate fight, the former champion has extended an offer to confront an upcoming contender who sharply criticized his performance following his surprising knockout defeat to Ilia Topuria.

Charles Oliveira Offers to Fight Paddy Pimblett After `Stupid` Remark
After suffering a severe knockout loss to the undefeated Ilia Topuria just over three months ago, Oliveira quickly arranged his return to fighting in Rio de Janeiro.
His one-sided defeat to the Spanish finisher drew considerable criticism, particularly from top contender Paddy Pimblett, who questioned Oliveira`s strategy.
Pimblett labeled Oliveira “stupid” and “amateur” for choosing to strike with the powerful Topuria. In response, Oliveira has now challenged Pimblett to a fight, as Topuria is anticipated to face a different opponent and potentially usher in a new UFC era next year.
“Listen, people are going to say what they want to say, but let`s see,” Oliveira commented to Newsweek Sports before UFC Rio. “I`m going to be ready. I always want to fight, and I`ll be ready to fight if needed. This only makes me laugh. That`s real talk.”
Charles Oliveira Plots White House Outing
Oliveira, who hopes to make another run for the lightweight title following his short-notice fight against Gamrot tonight, has already revealed ambitious future plans.
Aiming for his fourth fight in two years, Oliveira intends to maintain his active schedule next year, pledging to compete on the summer “White House” card in Washington.
Furthermore, Oliveira specifically named an opponent he wishes to “steal” from Michael Chandler, a fighter he has already decisively defeated twice.
